Portland Coffee Tour Stop 31: Jola Cafe
May 15th, 2022
Jola Cafe is next on my list! This was such a joyful stop because I got to go here on a coffee date with a really awesome friend, and also, it helped me realize how far I’ve come on this whole thing... although I’ve needed to move kinda slowly through it lately (wedding planning, and all). That said, it was really nice to just sit down and enjoy this spot in the midst of all the craziness right now. It was also a nice change from what I’ve normally been doing, since it is more of a cafe type vibe than a coffee shop. I’m also a huge fan of the South Waterfront area in general, in PDX.
This cafe is bright with plenty of seating, and has a ton of options for both food and coffee drinks. I looked into it a bit, and in addition to a weekend brunch, they also have lunch/dinner and happy hour. I went for breakfast and had a GF breakfast sandwich, and the barista actually made me a “secret menu” drink, which was a hotlatte with what tasted like some caramel and cinnamon in there (and maybe another secret ingredient that I don’t remember!). I always appreciate a shop that puts a little extra effort into making their drinks, and making the experience more fun/novel. I thought that the latte was nice and cozy for a rainy day and finding a good GF breakfast is not always easy! I don’t believe this one roasted their own — it looks like they use Coava (which totally makes sense, as it’s awesome).
This is another one that I’d recommend for meeting up with friends, and definitely if you want a meal too. Such a fun time!
